This past fall Motorola Solutions announced the launch of the TC55 Touch Computer.  This sleek, pocket-sized device initially launched with Android 4.1.2 JB, but the company recently announced the availability of a Google GMS option available now.

Tough Enough

This consumer-styled smartphone is optimized for the enterprise with the security and manageability suited for the field environment.  Equipped with two years of Service from the Start (coverage on normal wear and tear and 3-day turnaround on repairs), this unit can scan 1D and 2D bar codes and snap images with an 8MP camera fitted with auto-focus and user-controllable flash.

Access to real-time data for your field workforce is critical to getting the job done.  This ruggedized device enables easy access to connectivity while providing a super-durable design and resistance not available on a consumer tablet, smartphone or laptop.

With the GMS option, users can get the most out of their touch computer with access to Google Mobile applications that automatically synch with the device.  The Android OS was developed by Google, so GMS integrates Gmail, Google Calendar and quick search for a seamless experience.  You can search the web, make a phone call, send a message, get turn-by-turn directions with Google Maps and have access to hundreds of apps on Google Play.  The beauty of this option is that GMS apps are totally integrated on your device and therefore, play a big part in the success of the user experience.

Attractive Features

The TC55 offers a rugged form factor designed for demanding applications, but offers the familiarity of an Android device so users are up and running quicker than ever. Features include:

  • Full-Shift Battery Operation (best in class)
  • 4.3 inch WVGA resolution touch screen for optimal viewing indoors and out (even when it’s wet)
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and IP67 Sealing for added durability
  • Integrated Scanner and Imager (photos, signatures, bar codes and more)
  • Dual microphones, dual front speakers and noise canceling to enable outstanding audio communication
  • 4G Cellular, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0
